Day 93: Crafting Motivation....sometimes you just need to be duct taped to a chair, right?

Okay, this is really day 93 since I just realized that I had two Day 77.....it was when I was making all of my knitting and un-knitting.....no wonder.  Anyhoooo.....

This morning, I was sitting at a photo shoot thingy for my Sylvia's drama club (there is an upcoming performance, so cast photos are in order....9:30 a.m. wheeeeee!), and I was talking with another mom friend about craft projects.  She mentioned that she always has so many unfinished projects (none of us knows what that is like, right?) and is always reading blogs and getting other great ideas to add to her list (shocking again, right?).  So with her men-folk out of the house for the weekend, we decided that our daughters could have a spontaneous play date, and I would duct tape her to a chair for her to finish her current project with EASTER due date but weeks away.  She found this project from Suzanne at Just Another Hang Up (which I have now pawed through all past posts since this idea was SOOOOOOO cute) and she is making them for family Easter baskets.....totally great idea!

So here is a picture of Janel (no duct tape needed in the end) working on her "Just Another Hang Up Chick-sicle" (a rice filled cooling pack for kiddos.....ahhhhh, poor boo-boo).  And her first couple of Chick-sicles are sitting right there by the sewing machine.....SOOOOOOOOO CA-UTIE PA-TOOTIE!

Sometimes, I think we are the most productive when we have friends around to bounce ideas between brains, or just to feel involved with other spirits, or just someone else to talk to while pouring out creativity.  Otherwise, we talk to ourselves, which is at times socially unacceptable.

Also along for the afternoon was my friend Amanda who is on a mission to finish her eldest son's baby book (he is now 3 1/2 year old).  She feels behind, but we true scrappers know that there is always something to be scrapped, and many of us are lucky to only be 3-ish years behind.  This sort of talk falls on deaf ears though when I say it as I am actually only 1 year behind....but I am easily 4 or more years behind on things that she is right on top of (I am sure that my pile of recipes to try is much shorter than hers since she actually MAKES the stuff from time to time).  A+ for getting together in order to GET *#IT TOGETHER!
Amanda and her first scrap book =)

Today, I finished several pages in my 2010 book, and I had a great time with my LADIES!  I have been working to make my own embellishments on pages vs. buying them.....or at the very least, use from the stash I have already.
Just punches from scrap paper with a little bling

The scrap I punched above flowers from, with bling added was quite cute too.
My favorite set of pages from today....simple, straight forward, and they show off the pictures well =)
I am off to watch a little pre-sleep TV with the hubby and get my knitting on so that I can actually FINISH something larger soon, and move on to "full time" square production to prepare for my class!

Find what you love to do, and make time to do it.....and make sure to surround yourself with people who will support you in whatever tangent direction you bounce to!  What a joyous way to live, right?

  1. Hi Jerri! Love the little chick and the embellisments; awesome! I love to craft but don't find much time for it. I guess you're right, though; you have to make time for what you love. I think right now I'm in love with my blog and writing, so I definitely try to make time for it!

Stopping by from the UBP; have a great weekend!

  2. This post made my day! Thank you so much for pointing me in this direction. I love Janel's chick-sicles. So cute and (even though many have downloaded the pattern) -- these are the first I've seen of someone who actually made one. So cute! Love your scrapbooking pages too. Makes me want to do a little scrapbooking. Thanks again for the feature and your kind comments!

  3. I agree about the creative incentive and inspiration when crafting friends get together. I do, ahem, talk to myself, however, when alone and crafting.
