I was out and about a little bit today. I went to The Bead Monkey to pick up a few more base beads for pendants like the one my mother taught me to make. I took about three seconds looking at the 3mm Czech beads (which are the base size for the project EXACTLY like my mom's sample) and decided NO WAY! Then I picked out a few strands of the 4mm ones like the ones pictured in yesterday's blog post. I just don't do the weeeeeee little detail work like Mommy. While I was waiting for the store to open, I saw a pretty little garland made from dragonflies hanging in the window of a store in the same area. Upon returning home, I made some quick little dragonflies of my own. I think I will perch them on my garden stakes when my outdoor plants actually get tall enough to need stakes =) Come on, SPRING!
Linking up to one of my favorite parties called Wow Us Wednesdays at Savvy Southern Style!
Love the dragonfly!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI love this dragonfly Jerri! I included a dragonfly in the little Sunflower painting I finished yesterday as well. Can't wait to see your "designer" garden stakes. ;)Sharyne
ReplyDeleteYou could bead on it too if you wanted - either string on thin wire and weave across open areas or put larger hole beads on wire before bending (think this would be a little difficult). Love the dragonflies!
ReplyDeletevery nicely done love any kind of Nature art I saw your link to Wow us Wednesday I also joined in showing my owls and "bark art"

This is cute- I have tons of this wire in my basement- I could make bugs to hang from my porch! Come and link this to Workshop Wednesday- it would be a nice addition to the party! goodbyecityhellosuburbs
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute. I love dragonflies and would also love spring were it to actually arrive. Fingers crossed it does soon. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Wire work + dragonfly = WIN! :D
ReplyDeleteSusan.....I suppose that this "Susan" is my lovely mommy? At any rate, I don't think it would be hard to add beads to fill in the wings. I would just use a very thin guage to fill in beads and wrap around the framing wire.
