Day 91: Flower Pens

I got this idea from a blog I follow called Seven Sisters....here is the original link for making flower pens out of duct tape....it is super cute and a great tutorial.  True to myself, I look at an idea, and then try really hard not to look at the construction of it until after I have tried it myself.  The original blog used all sorts of colored duct tapes (which I didn't have.....but I do have oodles of scrapbook paper and clear packing tape....hmmmm).  So here is my first try....very quick and dirty.

Mine was way too bulky for my liking, so perhaps using thinner paper instead of heavy textured card stock would work better.  I also used a nice pen (I am kind of a pen snob....bic pens bother me) but the little holder on the side made for a chunky joining area.....so I would likely do that over again.  I would also like to try single triangle papers instead of folding squares (again, adding to the bulkiness)....and what about distressed paper edges?  The fun could be endless.  And what wouldn't make you smile if you saw a random flower pen on your desk....or bestowed upon the desk of your kiddo's favorite teacher....or just to thank that really cool dental assistant who always makes your kiddo feel at ease during appointments....or just to keep some cute color in your writing area.....cuteness!
Thanks, Seven Sisters!  I love this idea, and I am going to run with it!
