Eagan Arts Fetival

This weekend is the Eagan Art Festival! It is at the Eagan Festival Grounds rit behind the Eagan Community Center from 9-5 on Saturday, June 23 and 10-5 on Sunday, June 24. I will be there selling pottery and a smattering of fiber fun! Stop by!

Fiber Fest 2012 with Steven Be

The past several days have been filled with fiber of many sorts....classes (I have one more today....YEAH), hanging out with other fiber enthusiasts, and free stuff! Check out the contents of my swag bag from this year!

Thanks soooooo much to the generosity of Steven Berg (guru at both StevenBe's and Yarn Garage), the awesome creative companies that put together the great products in the swag bags, the amazingly energetic staff at both cool twin cities stores, and to the inspiration of each and every teacher that I encountered .

I will give a better class overview after I finish up my classes today.....but I took classes in Icelandic Knitting, Habu Fiber, Tunisian crochet, Tips and tricks, color theory at Minneapolis Institute of Art, and I have knitting with beads today. I am nearly knitted out, but I have learned a ton!!!!!!!

In four hours today......I made.....

I took a class on Icelandic knitting with Lopi wool.....and in four hours I made this funny tiny sweater. Since my little children not really into dolls now, I immediately smooshed my little sweater into clay! Sorry, fiber friends! I can't wait to make pieces with my little sweater!

Thermo-fax......back to the future!

Check out the screens I made with a crusty old thermo-fax machine today!









Can't wait to print with these beauties! I am hoping they will also work on clay with underglazes, oxides, slips, or anything else I can squeegee onto a clay surface! Time will tell!

My First Sweater!!!!!

I finished this Josh Bennett pattern to fit my hubby a week ago or so.....I finished the body knitting it in the round in all one piece because everyone hate seaming! I did the body in about four days, and spent more than two weeks just doing the sleeves. Worth it in the end for sure!!!!!!




Hubby is a slightly unwilling model, but I just had to show off the fit!!!!!


Yeah! I love asymmetry!

Knitting FOREVER!

I have been knitting this lace pattern forever and a day. I used two skeins of a Noro self-striping lace weight yarn and itty bitty needles.....and I just might finish this week.....

Texture

This is a clay ball, hollow, and textured. I added iron oxide before the final firing. This seems like Zentangle as I fill each section with it's own texture from carving or hand made stamps or impressions from found objects such as rope or screw heads.
