Slip Transfer and Printing

I spent a large chunk of the day adding layers of slip to this slab....learning about timing and details of transferring images from stamps onto newsprint and from there onto clay....FUN!

Now, what shall I make with this beautiful slab?

Busy Day Finishing Up

I seemed to have a lot of odds and ends to wrap up today! I prepped some clay stamps weeks back and I just had to finish stuff up today! It is amazing how productive a day can feel while just gathering up loose ends:)

Image Transfer Trials

A student in my Thursday morning class mentioned wanting to do some slip printing in which slips are applied to newspaper and then turned face down on clay. Damp sponge rubbed on the back of the newsprint encourages the slip to release from the paper and onto the clay piece. I spent a few hours working on this concept before getting results that made me happy......but I think the time with the process was absolutely worth while!

Sgraffito Drawings

In preparation for a class on sgraffito, I prepared several 4" tile drawings....many inspired by Zentangle patterns, some original simplified line drawings, some just ideas I though might be useful for my students. More photos as the project continues.....
