This blog started in January of 2011 as a 365 day project of creativity and using the otherwise unusable: paper crafts, jewelry, sewing, fiber art, pottery, and wherever else I might be led. It is really now what I would call a journey blog.

Slip Surfaces
I have been working with slip on pieces to make free texture on the surfaces of my pots.....inspired by the work of Steven Hill and Matthew Quinn.

Fun new form!
I have been working with this new form over the last couple of weeks. It is just a wide, shallow bowl with a cut rim that is folded toward the center to create the spiral. It is certainly a very fussy form in that the transition between the bowl and reattached rim is hard to keep smooth. The bottom is irregular once the rim has been altered and thus takes a lit longer to trim off all the support clay. Every bowl comes out differently and a complete surprise to me.....so I think I will make more.....

Little friend in our tree
I found this little friend in our "marriage ficus" today. The tree is so named as we have had the tree as a small cutting from the time we first met in college and it has been nursed through several moves and poor watering seasons. It is now enormous and has made its own little cutting trees since we have had it through five years of dating and 12 years of marriage.
